Who are we ?
ACID is a film directors association that has been promoting the diffusion of independent films in movie theatres and encouraging debates between authors and the audience for 19 years. The strength of ACID is its founding principle : the support brought by filmmakers to other filmmakers, French or foreign.
How ?
Every year, ACID supports 20 to 30 feature films, documentary and fiction. Before the release of the film, the directors of the association write promoting texts. Copyright free, these texts can be downloaded on our website. ACID then promotes the film among 200 independent movie theaters, mostly in small or medium towns. At the release, ACID can help with additional copy prints and promotional leaflets for the audience.
ACID also organizes and financially supports over 300 debates, readings, concerts, in movie theaters or festivals, in presence of either the film director, the screenplay writer, actors, the music composer.
In the Île-de-France Region, ACID remunerates film directors for their participation to debates.
In Paris, ACID and the ECRANS DE PARIS organize every week the The Encounters of Independent cinema at the Majestic Bastille, the Escurial and the Chaplin. ACID has partnerships worldwide with about 40 festivals and cultural venues that systematically view the films we support.
Since 2009, ACID is also working on audience developement, through parternships with schools, universities, associations and the launching of the ACID audience network throughout the country.
