« This year's programme reflects both the alarming folly of our era and our ability to face it. To question our institutions, understand what exile feels like, rethink our relationship to the places we inhabit or to the people around us; trying to please at all costs, dying to better reinvent oneself, letting a camera reveal us to the world as we dreamt ourselves up: whether it be through humor, fiction or a keen sense of details, the filmmakers manage to show our dysfonctional societies and how they impact each and every one of us. We gather around the showcased features and their stories anchored in a poetic, joyful and unexpected reality. Above all, these films are profoundly free and unformatted, powerful manifestations of resistance - and hope. »
13 of us watched hundreds of films and programmed 9 of them. Amongst them, 6 first feature films, and as every year, a particular attention given to films without French distributors and international sales agents.
We cannot wait to welcome you to Cannes from May 13th to 22nd, to unveil this programme. More than ever, these times to exchange around films — and more — are precious to us.
