Nathan Nicholovitch est un réalisateur et metteur en scène, né le 4 octobre 1976 à Villeurbanne.
Après des études d’arts appliqués et d’histoire de l’art, il crée le collectif « Les Films aux dos tournés » à Paris en 1999 au sein duquel il réalise ses premiers courts-métrages.

Le travail avec l’acteur est au centre de ses recherches et de sa démarche de création. En collaboration avec les comédien.ne.s de son atelier, il signe son premier long-métrage en 2012, CASA NOSTRA. Sélectionné au Festival de Cannes dans la programmation ACID en 2012, le film sort en salle l’année suivante. Parallèlement, deux pièces de théâtre voient le jour, « Aux Suivants » et « Personne n’échappe à son enfance ».

En 2013, avec la complicité de l’acteur David d’Ingéo, il crée le personnage de NO BOY,  son troisième court-métrage, qui sera à la base de son deuxième long, AVANT L'AURORE. Tourné au Cambodge, ce film illustre pleinement ce qui fait la marque de son réalisateur : un cinéma de fiction en prise directe avec le réel, des acteurs au cœur de son dispositif, des films qu’il produit de manière indépendante. Sélectionné au Festival de Cannes dans la programmation de l’ACID, AVANT L'AURORE sort en salles en septembre 2018, participe à plus de 40 festivals à travers le monde et remporte une douzaine de prix.

Poursuivant son travail d’atelier avec ses comédiens, Nathan réalise deux mises en scène de théâtre, « Your Position » en 2017 et « SCOP » en 2019. La même année, il embarque avec lui les élèves du lycée Romain Rolland d’Ivry-sur-Seine pour construire avec eux, pendant un an, un film qui les raconte face à la répression du mouvement social. LES GRAINES QUE L'ON SÈME est son troisième long-métrage.

Nathan Nicholovitch is a director and stage director, born on October 4, 1976 in Villeurbanne.
After studying applied arts and art history, he created the collective "Les Films aux dos tournés" in Paris in 1999 in which he directed his first short films.

Working with actors is at the centre of his research and creative process. In collaboration with the comedians.ne.s of his workshop, he signs his first feature film in 2012, CASA NOSTRA. Selected at the Cannes Film Festival in the ACID program in 2012, the film is released the following year. At the same time, two plays were created, "Aux Suivants" and "Personne n'échapper à son enfance".

In 2013, with the complicity of actor David d'Ingéo, he created the character of NO BOY, his third short film, which will be the basis of his second feature, BEFORE DAWN. Shot in Cambodia, this film fully illustrates what makes the mark of his director: a fiction cinema in direct contact with reality, actors at the heart of his system, films that he produces independently. Selected at the Cannes Film Festival in the ACID program, BEFORE DAWN will be released in theatres in September 2018. It will participate in more than 40 festivals around the world and will win a dozen awards.

Continuing his studio work with his actors, Nathan directed two theatre productions, "Your Position" in 2017 and "SCOP" in 2019. The same year, he takes the students of the Romain Rolland high school in Ivry-sur-Seine on board with him to build a film with them for a year, which tells the story of their struggle against the repression of the social movement. LES GRAINES QUE L'ON SÈME is his third feature film.
